New duck owner - Indian runner ducks

Newspaper really isn't the best because it is a slippery surface that can cause leg and foot problems in ducks. They really need something they can get some traction on, like old towels (which you can shake out and toss in the washing machine when dirty) or pine shavings. I use towels when ducklings are really young (under a week), then switch to pine shavings. :)

There is a risk of them getting splay leg on smooth surfaces like newspaper. I used old towels.

I used puppy pads and just throw them away every other day. They also helped to control the water mess.
 
You know how ducks love water including their watet bowl?...well say im at work and cant change their water...will it hurt them if I cant change their water for a couple hours. ..?...they just hop in and poop in it. ..and it gets nasty in about thirty minutes...any ideas anyone???

For ducklings I don't like them having free access to swim in their water. So I make one that has a lid or fashion it so they can't climb in. When they are older, meh they aren't going to get cold so I only change it once maybe twice a day. They don't really sit in their water bowl anyway because they have a pool.

ugh...I cant use my grandmothers tupperware..lol...and ive racked my brain thinking of ideas. ..ugh...I thought about a pint wonton noodle soup cup and lid...but I dont have any..any wizzes out there?

I cut a notch in a solo cup at the rim and put it in the bowl...lol...it worked
