New Duck owner

Yeap....
Good luck with the new baby's
I just love having mine.
Unfortunately TS doesn't sell sexed ducklings. So be careful if you have a drake around your chickens.
Why? What would happen? I do plan to keep them in with the one month old chicks I have. But one was able to get thru the chicken wire.
What happens if the ducks and chickens are together?

From the looks of it you have a Khaki Campbell ( all brown), a Rouen (striped eyes), and a Crested Pekin (white with head poof). Khaki Campbell are great egg layers but I am unsure of meat production. Rouen are a dual purpose bird. Pekin are meat birds but will lay eggs too. Crested pekin get the poof from a cranial deformity that is filled with fat. Be sure that you watch for neurological issues prevent others from pecking the poof if possible. Male ducks (also known as drakes) have very large cork-screw shaped penises and are very sexually driven so if you have a mixed flock with a drake make sure he leaves the hens alone. I have roosters that prevent my drakes from hurting my hens. Ducklings need un-medicated feed supplemented with vitamin b ( brewers yeast, liquid viramin b complex, nutritional vitamin b) necause they grow super fast. They need constant water that is deep enough for them to put their whole face in. They need water to keep their eyes/nares clean and they are filter feeders who require water to eat. Ducks are messy, but so much fun.

Sorry when I said good luck it wasn't because there will be problems.
I'm raising chicks and ducklings together...So part the only problem with it is the ducklings are pushy when giving treats . So I give it in two different areas.
Hope all goes well with yours :thumbsup
