New duckling! Help?

Also... is it weird for me to feel really bad about getting this duckling? We got it so Billy wouldn't be the only duck. She should have a companion... she doesn't deserve to be alone. But it's only been 4 days since Mochi passed and I can't help but feel like I'm replacing her? Like I am going to care for and love this duckling a lot but... we've never gotten a pet so soon after another dies. I still miss Mochi more than anything and just typing this has got me crying. I just can't help but feel like I'm replacing her.

Don't feel bad hon. These things happen and it is out of your control. It's sad when you lose a pet it's perfectly normal to grieve her loss but you feeling bad won't bring her back and I know she wouldn't want you to stay sad. Let The sunshine in its ok to let your new duckling help you through it

I think you’re doing a great thing to help your Billy, Mochi is very special to you and nothing can take her place- think about if she was still here and you got another duckling for some reason, you would be excited, not guilty, to add a new member to your flock. Love your little ducky with no worries! Remember your Mochi and think about her often alongside the little duck and Billy, which is where she is.

I like the name Juniper maybe? Seems to go well with Billy, Mochi, and Juniper. Sunny is super cute too!

If at night your duckling is peeping maybe sleep with your hand in the top of the brooder, that’s what I had to do. Best of luck!

@CarleeAnn We all decided on Sunni! Though I call her "babies" so I think she's beginning to think that's her name LOL! I think about Mochi every time I see Sunni because she's SO similar to how Mochi was when she was a duckling. A handful!!! She does peep pretty loudly at night, and peeps in general when we walk away from her, but after we shut the lights off and we are gone for a couple minutes she settles down next to her stuffed raccoon to sleep

The introduction of Sunni and Billy is going good. Billy is still a bit scared of Sunni but Sunni actually climbed up right next to her on my leg and even started biting her feet/feathers lol Billy wasn't liking being a chew toy
