New duckling Mumma here. Will they be warm enough under Mum duck no heat lamp?

Hello! We woke up this morning to 12 ducklings following our Mumma duck out of her roosting box where she has been sitting on her eggs for weeks. Quite surprised as didn’t think it was going to happen!
They are in our chicken coop which husband cleared out and filled with pine shavings.
Will the Mumma duck be able to keep them all warm all night? There’s 12 of them! She’s very good at keeping them close so much so we’ve hardly been able to handle them all day. Should we set up a heat lamp in the coop to help keep them warm? Or will that take them away from their mother? Temp is meant to get to 7*C tonight.

Welcome, and congratulations! Mum will be fine keeping the little ones warm at night. It's what she was designed to do!

Please post pictures of them when you get a chance. They stay tiny for so short a time.

what breed is mumma?

I have no idea what breed she is. We were given 2 ducklings at Christmas (a male and female we soon discovered!) has all been a bit of an experiment. Didn’t expect 12 ducklings that’s for sure!

Mumma is a Muscovy and look at her babies they are precious .
Watch the ducklings and make sure they are all snuggling close to mumma to stay warm. Your lows are pretty chilly but ducklings being hatched by a mama duck are pretty hardy.
Things like getting into a water source and not being able to get out can cause a duckling to get water logged chill and drown. So I'd fix it so ducklings have a shallow water source deep enough to wash out their bills but not deep enough that they couldn't get out of.
What are your day time temps? Do you keep a kiddy pool for your adults?
When I have tiny ducklings they get a cat litter container first with a safe way in and out then we move up to a cement mixing tub with safe way in and out. once they are 3-4 weeks old mama takes them into the big pool and there is a huge rock for everyone to use to get out of the pool and steps to get into it safely.
