New ducklings!! How exciting!! So we have had 2 broody ducks for a while now and one just hatch some beautiful Magpie ducklings. The problem is she is still super crazy. We also had to bring the ducklings and the mama inside because the ducklings were squeezing out of the coop without their mama. ( Just keep in mind we have lots of predators.) We are thinking we have to feed the ducklings but we can't even get close to the ducklings without her freaking out and crushing her babies. Is there anything we could do?

You can just put out food for them to take free willingly. Also, if you see signs that they're not getting the care they need from mom, then you can try and take them away so you can handle them. I wouldn't recommend scaring her like that so just have food out! :D I hope that helps a little bit! The babies also don't need to eat for 1-2 days after hatching because they absorbed all of the yolk and nutrients

you dont need to get close to them to feed them, just put the duckling food down for them to eat as and when they want it. While it is true that the yolk gives them all they need for a day or so, I find it is best to offer them food right away, both of my ducklings ate within a few hours of hatching, though one didn't eat very much.

make sure you put water down too in something the ducklings can't get into and drown. something like this for ducklings and mama got a taller one
