The next chicken swap is march 21 in milford new hampshire, there is an ongoing thread here about it.

If anyone is looking for some real handsome roosters let me know. I am going to bring some to a swap next weekend but will hold onto some if anyone is interested.
I have some black copper marans and a real nice cream colored easter egger with brown and black splashes.
Excellent temperment on all of them.
I may be selling a blue orpington rooster as well.
I have a hatch going on with some purebred ameraucanas due to hatch wednesday so if all goes well I will have more than I need and will part with a few.
I will have them all at least until Sunday, after that I hope to have them all rehomed.

I wish we could rotate the swaps to different TSC's.This way we can bring new people into the chickenstock community. One month have it in Milford, next month in another town and so on.Maybe rotate it between 3 or 4 towns.
In N.H.,Tony.

Neat, I haven't seen any yet, but now I'll be on the lookout!

Look on the bright side everyone, we turn the clocks ahead in 12 days!

Bill

Eh, there's no bright side for me WRT daylight savings time, I wish they'd leave the time alone. When I become Queen that's going to be one of my first edicts.

This snow is too darn heavy-knocked all my netting down. Didn't have time to get it out today cuz I spent the day shoveling three places(house sitting for neighbors) because it was too wet for the snow blower. Now it will be frozen in until who knows when and the hawks are already buzzing the yard. I'm ready for spring and it is only Feb. This is Maine-we could be looking at another two months of the this stuff. Glad I don't have any chicks in the spare room yet. Think Spring and maybe it will happen.

i'm over here in CT and the snow is getting old fast! we had rain yesterday (the ducks LOVED it) but then it turned to a little bit of snow, but then all the rain water froze! the yard is a sheet of ice! the whole thing!! i was going to take care of my ducks and i almost slipped and fell so many times, it was horrible. the ducks didn't mind. they have a nice house and pen with hay and then a "snowpen" that my dad built to keep them off the driveway. its just walls of snow they can climb over, and inside it, i put down some sand so they wouldn't slip. they were very happy! me, not too much. i want spring!!

The sun is shining here in CT today but it's still chilly. At least the ice in the yard melted some. My ducks were loving the rain puddles too until the puddles froze over. It was not fun trying to help my sick dog walk in the backyard on that ice yesterday. I was (am) home sick with a stomach bug and had to keep bending over to help him get back up. Ow.

I'm in the same boat, and I swear that is frozen in place too. I wanted to finish snow blowing today to get that stuck, snapping the chain I used. After yesterdays teary frustrated day, falling and crying, winter still kicked my butt today. Argh. Did you ever have days that you know you should stay in, sit on the couch, watch tv and don't answer the phones, stay below the window...its one of those weeks.
But I'm looking forward to melting, I hear you on the mesh broke, that was something else. Told DH to just shovel it up, spring we'll relocate it and yes, those darned Hawks are already here and looking for a meal.

Oh, I have to announce I have a new Great Neice! She was born yesterday morning, weighing 7lbs 14 oz and has a really really strong cry. Momma is doing well, they will be going home today. I only get pictures, my nephew and family are in Idaho AFB, have not seen any of them in ages, Dylan is 3 (#1 child).
So, the sun and a new baby do make me feel better, but I thought I had one more week to ship out the blanket, sweater, booties, hat, mittens that I've made, also the sweater I knit for Dylan. Oh, the baby girls name is AbyGail.
Hope you all have a bit of sunshine!

Congrats to all on the new great niece. A deffinate sign of spring~!!

20 degrees and the sun is shining here~!!

Snow coming off the roofs like giant avalanches.

All the critters are running for cover~!!

We have a BlueSeal locally, and a Paris Farmer's Union about 30 minutes away...also an AgWay (do they do chicks?). There's also an exotic bird lady near my aunt (about 45 minutes from me) - my cousin took care of her birds a few times...not sure what she has, but I might try to get her number...

As far as breeds, nothing's written in stone, but I'd really like some buff orpingtons, RI Reds, Ameraucaunas, and Barred Rocks to begin with.

I'm open to suggestions, as well!
