New face from florida

Zelda, I was wonder do you do anything that equates to a program for teenagers for learning about herpetology? If you have any ideas or lesson plans that you run from your menagerie it would give me some ideas for my classes. I teach middle school at this time but will probably swing back to high school eventually as my degree is also in biology. You can feel free to email me privately. I am too also in FL. Just curious, do you have to go under IACUC regulations to work with your research? I know I had to when I worked with primates in research.

Sincerely,

Heather

when the police questioned him, that's what he told them. The police were kind enough to keep me informed. I think he even got parole...

i wish the police would have shot the man and taken the croc to the hospital to make sure he didn't have food poisoning!
(jk, jk, jk . . . kinda)
if some guy is dumb enough to break into an enclosure then whatever happens - happens. he knew what he was doing. he knew the risks. why does the croc have to suffer for being . . . well . . . a croc?

what a crock!

sorry you lost your buddy. that sucks.

bottom line. it really ISN'T easy being green!

welcome to byc.

Thank you. my thoughts exactly...sigh. And I have warning signs on my enclosures too. Heck, I got "beware of " signs on my front gate. But this is america, people want to sue for everything nowadays.

Wow! It sounds like you have a fantastic collection!

And in FL...that's permits & inspections like crazy. What a labor of love. I work with reptiles as well - nice to see another herper around.

No kidding! That legless idiot should have to pay for the croc!

Well, I did get a bit of money after I counter-sued..but the judge ruled that "a crocodile is not the same as a dog or a cat, the animal is not a pet". Basically, she ruled that no matter how much I loved The Prince (yes, to me he was a pet) he was still only worth the price of his hide. So..that's all the money I got.

He was not bred to skinned, he was adopted and spoiled by me, he had a name, but the judge wasn't very understanding. If he was a dog or something..maybe things would have been different.
