Welcome to BYC. I'm pretty new here myself. I am in Hartselle, AL which is north of you, but my brother lives in Ohatchee, AL and keeps a few chickens. Not sure if you're near there or not. He built his coop using information he found here and it's pretty whiz-bang. Wish I had it in my yard!

Anyway, good luck with your coop-building and chicken-acquiring.

No, not in McCalla but very close. I am off of South Shades Crest road, near the old Indian Ford lodge. I graduated from Hueytown High, lived in Pleasant Grove.
