I've had my chickens for a little over 2 months now. I started out with 8 but unfortunately due to unforeseen events I lost two Araucanas. This is my first time having chickens on my own so any help would be wonderful. Unfortunately the temperatures here are extremely high so any tips on keeping my Ladies happy would be appreciated. Because of the heat green things are hard for us to grow, I would also really like some tips on gardening or grass care. The Ladies hate the lack of greenery. Anyways, hi to all, I really think I'm going to enjoy this forum.

Who's in the Hen House:

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. It's very warm here. I just placed a tarp on the outside of the west side of my coop and extended it out to 2 t-posts in order to block the direct sun from their yard without blocking the breeze. It isn't the most eye-pleasing solution, but it has made a big difference! Now they can stay out in the run area if they want to, instead of hiding inside until the sun drops past the trees.
