New fuzzy butts coming!!

I called McMurray today. They said they will be shipping my order on saturday. My distribution center is over an hour away. But they might get there on Sunday! So now im worried.

I talked to my local post office and they called over to the distribution center and gave them my info to call if they arrived sunday. Otherwise they should be at my local PO monday morning!

I sure hope they make it ok!

THE PO opened your boxes?!? Ill be MAD if they do that! Im a 40 minute drive from the PO. My carrier knows the birds are coming but hey if they goofs at the PO open the box that could cause a problem huh? Doest the box say live poultry or something? Mine shipped from Ideal yesterday so I hope they arrive tomorrow. They said in the e mail they should get here in 72 hours. How do the little guys make it that long in the box? No heat or food or water. Weird. these are my first so I hope they are all ok.

They are shipped after hatching. They absorb the yolk before they hatch and that will feed them for up to 72 hours. That is how they can go that long without food.

The heat is just body heat from eachother unless your hatchery encloses some sort of heat pack. But that is usually only done on smaller orders and it costs extra.

The boxes have airholes and they will hear the birds chirping. I cant remember what the packages say. But there is no mistaking what is in them by the noise.

Please let us know what you get them and how they were when they arrived!

VERY frustrated. After reading this I called my PO. I am a 40 minute drive away. I come to town every morning to pick up my son at school at 11:15(daddy drops him off on way to work) PO says they WILL NOT deliver any live animal to a residence. They call the phone number on the box and customer has to come pick it up. IF my number is on the box and the birds come in on the morning plane at 7:30am I will not get a message til after I am home at noon. Ideal is closed for the day so I dont know if my info is on the box. PO says if my info is not on the box then they try to call the sender. This is crazy. I could send hubby to get them but PO closes at 5 and he gets off at 7. I guess I might just show up at the PO tomorrow morning before I come home. DANG IT! What is more irritating is that I live 20 minutes from Belt Hatchery and they wont sell to me because they sell to local feed stores. Well I wanted 5 different kinds of birds than the feed store gets so....SHEESH! Ok Im done ranting now.

If you placed an order and the hatchery asked you for a phone number, more than likely it is on the box. Most PO do not deliver live animals.

Hopefully they will call before you leave to pick up your son from school.

Well that is encouraging news. I couldnt get anyone on the phone at Ideal myself. I hope I gave my cell # and not my land line. I think my best bet to save a LOT of driving is to just show up at the PO on my way home. Im sure appreciative for this forum or I would NOT be at all prepared.
