Hey there!! My Dad surprised my Momma and I with a small chirping box from tractor supply today! I’m obviously always giddy when he shows up with that beautiful small box, but this time I was not prepared for what it had inside!! When I opened it, there were three yellow critters, 2 much larger than the third. He got geese! Well, 2 geese and one duck (someone left a single duck at TSC, so they put him in with the geese! Now he lives with us!)
Anyways, apparently, it’s a white layer duck (is this different from a Pekin?) and 2 White Chinese Geese!

Here’s the thing… I know NOTHING about geese! We have chickens, and Praise The Lord, have had them for years and years, and we’ve kept ducks off and on for going on 6 years… but never ever a goose! I’ve wanted one, but shyed away from them because I didn’t know how to take care of them, or anything at all about them. So I welcome any and ALL information you helpful people have!! We currently have 3 older ducks (about 4ish months old)
So I do need to know how ducks and geese do living together, and what I need to feed them, both now as babies and later.

When can I introduce these guys to the established ducks?
Can baby duck continue to be raised with his baby goose friends?

Y’all, I am clueless here and don’t mind to admit it!!
I know that’s a lot of questions, but any and everything you can answer or would like to add, I am all ears!
Thanks for reading my long post!

Y’all have a blessed day!!
Hello! Welcome to BYC!

We were feeding our gosling waterfowl specific feed, but he still needed the extra niacin boost since he had wobbly legs. Nutritional yeast was a really affordable way to supplement that. Just mix it in with the feed :)
I know this is a slightly old post but wondering if you had experience in resolving wobbly legs in your gosling?? I have a 5 week old Toulouse and she just started having issues walking 9 days ago, we started giving her extra niacin orally immediately but aren’t seeing much improvement. :( Our other gosling is walking just fine. They were getting supplemental niacin but apparently it wasn’t enough for her. Is this likely permanent or does it usually take time to see improvements?
