Hi all,

I haven't raised a chicken in close to 30 years. When I was a teen, I helped my brother raise turkeys, laying hens, and roasters. With all of that time passing, I'm pretty much right back to newbie status. That's OK, I'm learning something new all over again

.

I'm looking to get about a dozen RIR crosses to start with. I've got a converted horse stall that will serve as my coop. Actually, it's an old chicken coop that I converted to a horse barn 8 years ago; how's that for irony?
With any luck, I'll be able to get rid of my overflow at my family's farm stand. Time will tell. I should have my chickens by sometime next week if all goes well.

I'm off to read now. . . Thanks for setting up this board. It's incredibly helpful for us newbies.

I looked through my phone and was able to find one outside picture of the barn. Here ya go.

found one more. this one is looking into the barn through the doorway. The wall with the stall front on it is the old exterior wall. The second opening is where the chickens will be residing.
