New Hampshire Red Hen Staggering and Sitting

So a little update. Our chicken has seen the vet. She is now the most expensive chicken ever! They did not find worms but suspected that it is still some sort of parasite. We were given a medicated feed. She is eating and drinking and walking better. She Is under weight and weak but seems to be doing ok. We still have her quarantined. We are going to treat the rest of the flock this week then re introduce her.

Fingers crossed.

Do you mind sharing what medication is in the feed? Glad that you could see the vet. Her problem could be something going on with her reproductive organs, perhaps infection or lash egg material inside putting pressure on her leg nerves. It is good that she is eating and doing better. I would recommend letting her visit with her flock some, since the longer she is away from them, they might peck her when she comes back.

Thank you for the update.

Did they perform x-ray to rule out reproductive issues?

sure!
She was prescribed safe-guard medicated alfalfa pellets Fenbendazole .5%. Feed each morning for 3 days. She’s off that now and back on her normal food. The rest of the flock deworms with safeguard paste. We’re also working on re introducing her.
