whoa! that's scary! Fred only went after our legs, and never succeeded in drawing blood, BUT i still don't trust him. He has frightened us for sure! Lily is right, no need to keep a mean chicken around, especially with kids!

My SF boy is a very big boy but very sweet tempered. I also have two other bantam roos in the coop, sweet little guys, plus a bantam roo in the house (not yet acclimated to the cold outside)----we'll stick with the nice guys!

Saw a surprise on the way back from Maine today. Flying over the Merrimack in Lawrence was a bald eagle! Now I've seen them often in Maine, and there was no mistaking that white head and tail on a dark body on such a bright day like today. I just never would have thought I'd see one in Lawrence of all places! Must have followed the river down from NH.

Our camera is old and the pictures aren't the best, but here's a couple of an eagle in a dead pine tree at the bottom of the field down near the lake this past July. The pics don't do him/her justice. It's a long way down there, yet the eagle was so big we could see it from the house. I wasn't able to get any closer before it flew off.

We've also had crows chasing them out of the yard, ospreys harrassing them overhead, one on a tree a week ago looking for fish from ice fishermen, and last year when I took Jonathan and Dutch out on the ice at the head of the lake one was over our heads for a while. It was so windy it couldn't make any headway. It left before I could get a picture of it. But here are the other 2.

Anyone looking for a free rooster?
I think he is BOxEE but not positive.
I thought he was a she until I went out to feed them this morning and he jumped a hen.
I was thinking it grew up fast.........lol.
I already have 3 roo's in the pen plus 5 more in the breeders pens so I really don't need another one.
He is black with spots of red bleeding through. He is about 4-6 months old and is not mean.
I thought I would check here first before putting him on craigslist.
PM me if interested.

Anyone know what type of bird "Abe" is? he weigs about 10 pounds and stands about 20 inches tall. We're suspecting Abe's an Ameraucana/Giant cross. What do ya"ll think?
