Hi Tammie, do you think you will be coming to the Merrimack swap? And if so, will you be bringing button quail...I dont think I ended up with any males out of the ones i got from you! Unfortunately i lost 3 of them at various times...I think it was the feed. So i am left with 3 very light tan pied, and 2 silverish ones and I think they are all gals!

Hi Everybody

I was away from BYC for a bit and apparently missed another storm, guess I just have good timing, missed the last big brawl because of my accident, lol. Anyways, Dave I'm glad you like the SS girl. Those were some cute chicks!

My favorite find at this year's chickens swaps was the Buff Orpington cupcakes at Keene

I only found 1 chicken this year at the swaps, Mr Red my Frizzle roo from the spring. He is a good boy. He used to drive my SLW roo crazy by chasing all of his girls but finally admitted defeat and now just hangs out with his buff Silkie girl (though actually, I did get the Silkie at a swap but as a delivery, not as a find).

This has been a good year for the chickens, though I did lose 2 Wyandottes, presumably to predators. One BLRW cockerel and a SPW blind hen. The blind hen got out of the chicken house and didn't find her way back by night fall. We couldn't find her and she never came back so something happened to her. Our blind crew usually hang out in the chicken house at all times, by choice.

Change of plans, Dan would rather go to Merrimack this Saturday since he doesn't have to work until 5pm this Saturday. I'll hope to see many of you there!!!

I'll be painting animal ornaments again this fall and taking orders for Christmas. The new price is $5 per ornament (1 animal per). If you would like a specific animal or breed (I can do custom ones with your actual pet too) on an ornament please send me a PM with your order. I'm going to try to get some done for the swap too, plus I'll have some of my older samples to sell at the swap as well. Here are some examples of what I can do.

ETA: If you order please include a ornament color choice. The available choices are:

blue, red, teal, gold, silver, pink/gold, purple, white

I also have some special shaped ornaments like red hearts, green elongated and some others. I have smaller ornaments I will do for $3 each.

Please remember that darker colored animals look better on brighter ornaments like silver, gold, pink/gold, and white.

I can't put a protective coating on ornaments ordered this late in the year (coating has to be done outside in weather over 65degrees) so ornaments ordered now will have to be stored wrapped in soft cloth or facial tissue to prevent scratching and chipping of paint or in an ornament box with the image facing up so that it does not come into contact with the box. If you decide you would like your ornament coated I can do it next summer for you at no extra charge. Coating the ornament causes most to have an antique look because the reaction between the actual ornament paint (the blue, red, etc...) and the glaze causes cloudy spots and sometimes crackling of the ornament paint, however it does not in any way affect the acrylic animal image.

I can say that I never coat the ones I keep for myself and the animal images have never chipped or scratched. I just store them wrapped in cloth in a regular ornament keeper box.

those are awesome

which swap on the 14th? there are 2

If I can't make a swap that someone who orders is going to, there are two options. I can mail it out to them for shipping cost, or if I get enough orders out of the same area I can meet somewhere for pick-up. If you are interested in ordering one, Wendy, I will be out to Kittery, ME again before Christmas and can meet you there or in Portsmouth or somewhere around you when I'm out there.

ETA: Change of Plans!!! Dan has suddenly decided he would rather go to the Merrimack swap this weekend rather than Hooksett on the 14th. He isn't working until 5 this Saturday so it works out. Not sure how many new ornaments I can do before Saturday, but I will have some of my older samples with me. If anyone wants to order for Saturday pick-up, I will try to do as many as I can!
