i was wondering about that too this morning when i heard it on the radio. i find this interesting since we have friends in that area who also have a neighbor with chickens (all hens and more than the recommended 4). they love seeing the chickens and the neighbor is kind enough to have bushes by their fence to fend off any noise.

i'm technically not supposed to have roosters in my area but i have spoken with my neighbors and as long as they don't crow earlier than 7am outside or can be heard beyond the property before then, so far they are not much of a bother to them. i am only planning on keeping a few. i have a garage coop setup that is insulated and soundproofed and the neighbors haven't heard my roos yet!
