Hi there! Is Sarah interested in any new breeds this year, or is she shifting to Cavies? Do you still have your calls?

Trying to work on the breeds she has now

I'm kinda helping with the cavies idea, used to show/breed big time in the 80's and would like a get a couple more. Why, do you have a new breed

Too many breeds, to little space.

Chickie'sMoma :

they're blue salmon. the roos have blue where they would normally have black, and they have the other colors but are not fully blue. the females i'm still trying to figure out the difference. i got some from hcammack (via Nikki at hatrick silkies) and from down in Texas from another breeder. plus i have one i got from you last year and my Chloe who is the mahogany color.

i'm thinking as a nice anniversary gift from my dh this year (if he gets a job soon) i'm going to contact a breeder of the full blue faverolles and see about getting a pair or preferably a trio.

here's Chloe sitting on her eggs before i moved her into the house to finish. she actually looks like she has blue where she would have black on her wings and tail.

she looks great.
the blue i had that didnt live long was mostly blue, so i guess its that
i do see what you are saying about the blue where it is suppose to be black you can really tell in that picture. i like them both, so what is it that is the one that is more blue then? i am now confused are you??

sorry to confuse you there Chickn. there is a blue and then there is a blue salmon. the blues look fully blue in both the males and females all over, while the blue salmon males have the standard salmon male colors with the exception that the black areas are replaced with the blue, and the females have blue lacing with the salmon in the middle of the feathers. (usually it is white lacing around the salmon)

here's a link to the Faveolles thread and hcammack's flock of salmon and blue salmon favs. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=268082&p=64 pics 3 & 4 are of the roo and pic 5 shows the difference between the lacing (hard to see it)

also, here's hattrick's auction going on now for her fav eggs. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=289129

chickn
, i think i confused you when i mentioned the girl i got from you, she is a salmon fav, she doesn't have the blue lacing. Chloe is my mahogany but i'm still trying to figure out if she carries a blue gene or if that is the natural color in the tail and wings for the mahogany.

i guess i need to get to bed and some sleep. i'm strating to confuse myself now i think!??

Oh, geesh you need some Salmon Faverolles, right??? We have a few young ones that are inside that would fit right in with those silkies

. Bryant brought four chicks in about Nov., mom hatched and three are little roos (you jinxed it). She's got a room full that would do fine in that warm basement
