New Hampshire!

NH folks- I am looking for an insured carpenter/handyman who can help me rebuild and winterize the roof on my chicken's 15x20 run. The tarp set-up I thought would work failed last night in a heavy rain storm, and I'm afraid it's going to pull down the whole roof. Looking for recommendations ASAP, before the ground freezes. If you have any recommendations, please PM me. I am located in SW NH, between Keene and Brattleboro, VT. Thanks!

I'd use metal roofing.

I do have more than 1Tom, I have 2. Last year I had 3Toms but we had 1 Tom for Easter Dinner. So we will be going into next season with 2Toms and 6Hens.

I had 2 hens try to hatch out a clutch of about 15eggs. Unfortunately I didn't separate then from the Toms and the Toms destroyed the nest. Next year I will have a seperate area For the Toms to move to incase any go broody.
I did not know you had to move the toms. it must have been disappointing to lose the nests.

For those with turkeys a great thread to check out, read thru, ask questions and enjoy good company is the thread Turkeys for 2013. Lots of great things have been discussed. Everywhere from Breed varieties, hatching egg(incubator and broody), raising poults, feeding, housing, processing, cooking and just all around enjoying turkey.
thanks for the info I will check it out

X3 it really is the best

Yep, we are planning to replace with metal. My primary challenge is just finding someone who is willing to take on such a small project at a busy time of year- my husband and I are completely maxed out with our work and personal lives and just can't get this done ourselves. So, if anyone knows an insured handyman/carpenter in SW NH who is looking for a project, please send me a PM and I will contact them immediately.

My chicken had lice and I think she scratched her eye. I have tried several treatments and nothing has worked. Someone sent me a link and said it needed to be lanced and the hardened infection needs to be removed. I tried that with help of a few friends with no luck. Is there anyone out there that can help me and her? Here are some pics of her from yesterday before we cut into her. I want to try to give her a few days to heal before I try again. She is eating and drinking well and even laid her first 2 eggs in the dog crate in the garage! I am in Hill NH but I can bring her to you if you want and think you can help her. That scab looking thing has fallen off since the pic. Thank you for any help or advice!

What have you tried for treatment so far?

I would start by using a saline solution to rinse her eye and put vertycin eye ointment on her eye at least 2-3 times a day. You may also want to try tylan 50, it is an antibiotic it is an injectable but you can give it them orally. Im not sure if any of that will work but it is all I can think of. It is very swollen and looks like it could be pus filled which mean you may need to drain the pus.

You should post this in the emergency section and you should get more responses than you will here on the NH thread.

We tried to drain the puss there was nothing coming out, I tried Neomycin, zinc abd hydrocortisone ointment then atropine sulfate nothing from that then vetrx. I've been flushing it out with Saline from day 1. I started her on on Baytril but people said that it was too late for that to help. This has been going on for 2 weeks now.
