New member from Milford NH here. No chickens yet, planning on getting some Ameraucanas or Easter Eggers this spring. Although it might be August before all this snow melts.

We just had our 1st hatch of 2011. 2 Speckled Sussex, 2 Dominiques, and 2 Dunghill Fowl. Pics are on our Facebook page. This was a test hatch from our 3 different breeding pens. We will start hatching MANY more mid February and have chicks for sale this Spring. We have orders to fill first, but we always hatch extra.

How are all you New Hampshire chicken enthusiasts doing? Do your chickens venture out much in this cold? I wish the temp would get above freezing for more than a day or so. I am going to plan my coop a little larger now since it seems they spend so much time there in the winters like these. It has been so gloomy.

Hi Sassafras,
My chickens have been out all winter no issues. They do stay in the coop when it is snowing and just look outside but once it stops they are right out there! My run is covered and I have a heavy duty tarp on two sides and Plexiglass on another. They have a nice sand floor in the run and lots of shavings in the coop. I keep their food and water outdoors in the run and every morning they are happy to exit the coop for their breakfast and daily greens. I do put food in water in the coop when it is storming out but still keep the door wide open. You can see pics on my website of their coop
