i have a couple black & a couple white
i think they are about 15 to 20 weeks old

Hey all - I posted this questions in Behaviors/Egg Laying, but didn't get any response, so hoping for some feedback here.

About when do your birds slow down/stop laying for the winter? My flock of 7 is around 4 months old, 2 are laying (one daily, one just started so sporadic), 3 more doing 'the squat', 2 don't even look mature.

The ones that are laying at Buff Orps, which I was told is a good cold-weather breed that lays during the winter. I'm wondering if, because they are so young and just going into lay right before the seasonal change, is it unlikely they will be productive during the winter?

I also have 2 EEs (Legbar/Ameraucana cross) - one is squatting, the other hasn't matured - I don't have much hope for blue eggs over the winter.

I have Americana's that lay 5-6 egg's a week, RIR's that lay faithfully 1 egg each a day, They never stop for winter or season they are great everyday!
My buff's are singing and squatting away! As are my others, I'm so looking forward to eggs soon!

Thank you! Is that the right way to spell the breed - Americana? I see it all kinds of ways - I used the way the woman who sold me the birds spelled it, not sure if different spellings = different breeds, or what.

Anyway - I hope you get your buff eggs soon! My buffs' egg song is SO loud, I'm waiting for the neighbors to start complaining. Fortunately they don't do it too early.
