New Hampshire!

I have quite a few but mine are Silver also.... I have a broody Appletini sitting on eggs now, but I doubt she will actually hatch them, she is young and stupid..
Are the appenzeller spitzhauben a good laying chicken? How do they do with confinement and do they fly? I read somewhere that they are good flyers. I may have an option to get some but not sure if they would be a good fit.

They are amazing birds, they eat very little, lay a large egg for their size, Sit out in 30 below weather and never freeze a toe even!

Mine do not fly anymore than any others..

They are great eye candy and they free range well, I have not fed mine in 5-6 weeks otherthan a little scratch... They are bug eaters!

They are good looking and lay a decent md/lg white egg
The best thing is that they are pretty yard candy but with a small crest they are less likely to be picked off by aerial predators
And mine has been broody 3x already and is only 1.5 I only let her hatch once and she was a good mom

Oh! And they are not known to be a broody breed

I have 3 hens left, I gave 2 hens and a rooster to EJB. One of the hens is broody, She has managed to gather about 100 eggs to sit on. I doubt any will ever hatch as she spends too much time running around. BUT when I go to check the nest box she has taken over, she is right there watching me. If she is on it when I look in I get stink eye, a growl and she goes into pancake mode...

Weird bird, But I really do not care if she hatches them or not.
