Try an all-flock feed, with protein 18% to 20%, with the oyster shell on the side, and then your veggies and berries will fit in better, rather than dropping that minimal protein diet even lower in value.
And see how these new birds are doing in a month or so.

Thanks, Mary! Got my first egg from one of the RIRs this morning. So far only the GLW has shown no interest in the nests. Does extra weight affect hens laying ability? She’s a very fluffy girl.

Fluff is fine, but fat can make it more difficult for them to lay, so yes if you have a bird that's well padded it could interfere with her ability to lay.
