New here and ready to "inkybate" as my 7 yr old says

:welcome:celebrate

Glad you're here ! We've done a couple ink bations here, and they're all wonderful learning experiences for our home schooled PIC (Partner In Chickens).

A must have for your poultry is a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/suggestions-for-a-first-aid-kit.1150128/)
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...-there-and-cut-more-holes-in-your-coop.47774/) Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!

Thanks! I will look into that 1st aid kit. We have had our current girls for two years and have gone thru 3 or 4 dif coops. We have good ventilation now and will put a window in on the spring. Plan on keeping a separate pen for new chicks once they are big enough.
Do you have experience w Roos? I am interested in keeping one if we hatch any and am zoned for it. Just wonder about kids around one. Would love a sweet roo and kids could eventually get to watch a momma and chicks

@RoostersAreAwesome is the cockerel diva around here.... she'd be able to tell you what kind(s) are more docile and such. Definitely very rooster forward! Good luck!
