New here with questions

Lol I don't know why I just love barred rocks. I wanted a whole flock of them. But now I'm thinking maybe I'll keep 6 birds and have some different types
I take care of my elderly father and he just thinks they are beautiful birds...lol I love my mixes cause there is so much variety. My new silkie flock has quite a bit of variety as well, color wise. I coud never have one breed and that's it...lol

Yeah, I like variety too.... I wouldn't mind having another Marans or two, for those lovely eggs, or maybe a Wellsummer, I haven't had those....I can't have birds with majority white - I might as well put a bull's eye on their backs!

I wouldn't mind having a couple of the dark Marans layers. The dark chocolate eggs are pretty. I'm not crazy over the looks of the birds, but it be worth it for the eggs.

The dawn worked great and it looks like we have another hen. Couldn't walk or anything but tonight is actually supporting herself and has been eating and drinking on her own. So glad I intervened!

My little Gimpy has grown like crazy and is now only slightly smaller than its siblings. Right full of energy too always runs to me and tries to jump out of the brooder to get to me. I originally thought 2 hens and 2 roosters but I don't know with all the conflicting stuff I read. Gimpy and the original one I thought was a hen I still think are and the one I thought was a roo. The other one I was always confused about and even more so now. They're 2 weeks old tomorrow and this one has a full set of wing and tail feathers. The others are all just starting to get wing feathers and don't have any tail feathers at all. Anyone got any insight into barred rock babies?

Sweet babies!

As for feather sexing, if I remember right, the fast growing wing tips and tail = pullet, at least in the Salmon Fav world.....

I'm glad you took that step and helped

.....now, the next time a chick needs help, it won't be so scary to step in.....
