It's nice to have you here!

Hello there, and welcome to Backyard Chickens! I am so glad you joined us, and I am sure you will enjoy it here! Please make yourself at home! :frow

I had a bad experience today and was looking for some insight. I found one of my chickens dead inside the coop. Her head was gone and part of her butt area. I didn't see any blood or anything or any way for something to get inside the run area.I left the coop door open but it opens to the run.she was a black silky almost 7 more. Old.

Is the top of the run enclosed as well? I am wondering if a small hawk or something got her. Also, some predators need the smallest of openings to get in - weasels and rats for instance. Sorry for your loss.

My coop opens to an enclosed run also, but I have an electric auto door on my coop that closes everything up tight at night while chickens sleep. Sorry I know it's upsetting.
