Hi - This is my RIR mini flock: Lucy, Katie, Brigid and Eileen. I took care of the hens at a job a while back, but these are my first at home. They were adopted from an elementary school, so they are really friendly tag-alongs. They have a pretty warm henhouse with lots of hay for insulation and get some warm food too. I find 3-4 eggs per day, so no complaints. They have a fenced in yard and apparently the crows are keeping hawks at bay. Unlike the ones at work, these girls come when they are called and go right into the coop (with a little bribery) without any of that keep-away game i've played with other girls. So yeah, they are spoiled (as are my cats and dogs), but they are really good girls.

I think small flocks are the best! I have five hens and they are super sweet and easy to tame!

I would post stories and photos of them here
