New Home For My Ameraucana's

Welded wire fence with 1x2 or 1x1 openings. If you have weasels then you would need 1/2 hardware cloth. For diggers 1x2 is great for a skirt.

Good examples of skirt/apron installation, tho I'd not recommend 1/2" HC...go with 14ga 1x2 or 1x1, will hold up much longer and is easier to lay flat.

Oops I see you already have an apron.

200 lbs of feed for 3 birds?

"200 lbs of feed for 3 birds?"

Actually there are 4...but I get your point. Let's just say I'm cautiously optimistic my breeding program will warrant the extra capacity. This coop is phase one. The feeder will eventually straddle two separate areas.

Freshness would be my biggest concern, then moisture and rodents.
My 15 birds go thru 50# in about a month, I keep feed in a metal garbage can and every morning dole out what they can eat in about 24 hours.

Points well taken & I can see where moisture would be a concern of yours (Michigan). I’m from NM where humidity is almost none existent. I have 28 chickens in another coop & run & their feeder holds 100lbs. It lasts for about a month & a half, & I have absolutely no issues with mold/mildew.

As for the larger capacity feeder, I only serve the four enough to hold them for a month, but again, no humidity issues here.

Ah....whole different ballgame there.

Adding your location to your profile would have curbed my humidity comment to you ;)
Go for it, it's easy, and then it's always there!

This coop is very secure to guard against predators. However, there are a few areas where a coon (rare in my neighborhood) might be able to gain access. Here's my alternative to placing welded wire in those more vulnerable areas of the coop. It works fine here in NM because the only predator capable of penetrating the chicken wire would be nocturnal. Just couldn't see going through the added expense of welded wire.
