New hoop coop

curious about your 'framing for the wire'? how are you building this hoop coop?

I love my cattle panel run. the wife wanted the coop itself to look like a playhouse, so that's what she got. But the run is a cattle panel hoop run. Covered in hardware cloth and landscape cloth (partially) easy to build, easy to get into plenty of room for the kids.....

That's an awesome coop!

<shove> Move over, Papa....gotta show off mine too!

No frame at all, except for the people door to the run. Tall enough to work totally upright. Withstands heavy winds and snow. Airy. Expanded it this spring by simply removing the wires holding the end panel on, adding another fence post on either side, and arching one more cattle panel between them. Wired the end piece back on and done.

Thanks! It's working out so well. The lattice fencing was added because we live in town and our setup is visible from the street, so we didn't want it to look like an eyesore. For winter we removed the landscape fabric shade, then draped white lattice over the whole run so the pokey-outies from wiring chicken wire to the cattle panels wouldn't poke holes in the clear greenhouse plastic we used for winter protection. The lattice acts like a spacer. We liked it, so when we uncovered the run this spring we left the lattice up.

So enlarged and left covered it looks like this now:

Need to extend the fence in front - still haven't done that....

Um, pardon my hummingbird feeder. The tarp that's on the top of the run has got to GO! Ken wanted to use it because one side is reflective and he thought it would keep it cooler in the run. Well, it doesn't. It traps heat in there, which my landscape fabric cover last year didn't do. So we're changing back.

we are building a frame for the wire, I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow... we almost have all the framing finished... I'm so excited, I ordered the automatic door opener today.. he said I should get it next Thursday...

If I had time to take progress pics is have time to finish it lol just need to build a door on the end and put some wire on it and their the tarp on. I'm waiting to hear from my friend I'm gonna go get his welder and weld the panel sections together
