My wife and I have been wanting to raise chickens for several years but Parma does not allow it.

Hello!! Welcome . I'm in Michigan but see if you can get a petition to get that changed. I'm not sure where Parma is. Have you looked into bantam breeds?? They're not as loud as regulars except the roosters. The crow is audible enough to possibly disturb someone but minimally. My barred rock is pretty loud, as well as my silver laced wyandotte. My booted bantam is half as loud but crows frequently.

Sorry Parma does not allow chickens.

You'll have to check into changing your town's ordinances. Many allow hens but no males. There are several good threads here on BYC with some good advice on changing the ordinances. Good luck...
