I would like to add my thanks to the owners and Moderators of this forum. I have been online since IRC (anyone remember that or ICQ? Ok, so I'm OOOOOLLLDDD) I'm sorry you had to come up with a system to keep people in line, cuz I have been a mod on other forums and I know it adds to your work load. (kinda makes reading a chore instead of fun. sigh) I know that it will only increase the pleasure of using this forum and I thank you for taking the time to address issues that detract from the forum.

I found this forum on a google search regarding chicken breeds....I clicked the link to the answer to my question and I never left. I didn't know there WERE other similar forums. I just liked the friendly people here and stayed. (I read for 2 months before actually signing up and posting a question, so I kinda knew how it worked before I became a member)

I have *never* found such a well run forum in my entire internet experience. I am sure that is entirely due to the owners and moderators. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for making this "THE PLACE" for answers, companionship and chicken pictures. (gotta love the little chickie pics)

PS I tell everyone about this forum. I kinda love it here.

Double PS. I'm still gonna "bump" newbies questions, I'll just be subtle about it, cuz I remember how frustrating it was to need to know NOW and not get an answer until tomorrow. Hope I won't get too many points for doing it, cuz sometimes you just gotta know NOW, 24 hours later might be too late. Actually I've been around long enough now, I might just be able to PM them with who to contact for an answer. I'll do that (whenever possible).

In Emergencies, lending moral support, even when you don't have the answer for the person in need, is fine, in my opinion; though it does, in effect, bump the thread, knowing someone does care and is hoping you do get help soon can be very comforting. It's the spirit of the post that mechanically bumps the thread that would count more than anything else, from my point of view.

As Terrielacy just said in another thread, you can also do a fast search here or on Google then say "Hey I found this (link.)" Win -win, and maybe they learn something about searches, too.

True! It is very different to offer comfort in the Emergency section to a distraught member than it is to say, bump up a 3 year old post about Bigfoot or a 2 month old post about "Is my chicken a rooster?" Well, in 2 months they know already, right?

I just wanted to say that I think the bumping thing is a little extreme... ONLY if they have been warned and continue to purposefully do it would it make any sense to give them points. Many people don't know what bumping is AND it's allowed on ANY other forum I've ever been on. THAT being said, I RARELY even see bumping and I am on hours every day.

As stated, we can adjust the points to the situation.

And you rarely see them because we are fast to react to the reports.
