Hello! I keep forgetting to post my introduction. I recently decided to hatch chickens with my children and I’m so glad I did! BYC has been such a great help with this experience. I only hatched three, of which I received 1 white rock, 1 buff, and 1 welsummer roo. Shortly after these guys, I received 10 more. I now have a total of 13. My older three are 11 weeks and the ten are 8 weeks. It’s been hard to get them acclimated to each other and I’m thinking it’s likely due to having wayy too many roosters. Out of the 10 I got from a friend, 4 are roosters. So I have 5 roosters total! I’m in the process of giving 4 away and hoping that this will make it easier to introduce the pullets. Anyway, I’m excited to be on BYC and love reading up on the forums and learning new ways to help my chickens!

Please use the search function for "See but don't touch," method of integration. You really don't need many roosters. Maybe not even one, if you don't plan to sell fertile eggs or hatch chicks. Some folks keep roosters in a bachelor coop. But, they aren't ever going to lay eggs for you, so expensive to keep.
