I NEED HELP!!!!  We just got a chance to go to atlanta for a week in June. I will still have chicks in the brooder. Will anyone chick sit?:fl I would bring them to you. I  will be more than happy to pay someone. The dates are 5/30 to 6/10   I have someone to take care of the outside crew but she doesn't feel comfortable with the chicks Please let me know.
Thanks

I have room here for them unless you find someone closer .

I'm not 100% sure, I've seen some silkie mixes who have light gray skin but a lot stay black. I'm thinking the skin will stay pretty dark though. My showgirl too is from good lines so he should have solid dark skin genetics.

I threw 5 of the same eggs (showgirl/Turken) in my incubator for my test run, and all are developing. I have over 50 eggs in the bator, only 41 fit on the turner, but I stuck extras around the sides. They aren't getting turned often but they seem ok so far. I was expecting that I'd have more clears but I only threw a few out, mostly just OEs. That hen is in my wheaten Marans pen but her fertility isn't great. At least the Marans eggs are super fertile.

Wow sounds like a good hatch then. I've seen people just stack the extras on top of the others that way they still get turned. They do it thinking they would have clears and then room in the turner.

Ginny, I would take them for you - but you've seen what little space I have. Around that time I will also have my own chicks squeezed in there.

Good for you, Gail!

I may be able to help also. They may have to go in the garage or basement but I have room.

Yes we should try to meet up. I only have 14 in the brooder now but should have more at the end of April.

I'll be there...I would like to bring some chicks to sell, if I have any left. They have been going pretty fast but I'll keep hatching til the show!

I've got a question. I won't be breeding birds for a long time, but I keep wondering this. How many birds do you need to have a breeding flock? Do you need only one rooster, or is it good to have multiple Roos for different lineages and stuff? If i want to breed multiple breeds, is four hens and a roo enough to sell birds? it wont be for a source of money, mainly for hobby purposes. I know you need the same color birds because two different colors will mess up the colors. I know it's a hard question to answer and is sure there are varied opinions on it. Breeding rabbits is so much easier!
