New Jersey

Hi, I'm new to the chicken game and I live in North Jersey... I was wondering if anybody in Jersey has Buff Orpington Pullets that they are willing to sell (I'm interested in buying 4-6)? If not, are there any farms in NY or PA that I could go and get some pullets...buying in May when I get home from school. Reply or PM me with any information. Thanks!!!

I have a question. I am posting from my iPhone and I want to post a picture here. Does anyone know how to do that? The picture icon is asking for an URL and I don't have that and I tried to copy and paste and that did not work. Thank you in advance.

You can use a photo hosting site, such as photobucket. Once your photos are in there, on the image is a little swirly "i" icon. From there you copy the link (direct?) and paste into backyardchick reply box. I used iPhone and iPad and the last week or so it crashing constantly. Also the box you mentioned is new, I never had that before so I'm not sure what's going on. I also use the desktop version on iPhone/iPad not mobile.

Welcome! I don't think you'll have a problem finding those breeds on Craigslist when your ready. Maybe not as old as you'd like but you never know.

Put the girls out for 2 hours yes just 2 hrs. I went out to check and the charged the fence yelling and carrying on. They acted like godzilla was after them. I couldnt get the gate open fast enough. I sat down on the ground and they jumped all over me even onto my shoulders. I feel sooo guilty. Bad mommy left the babies all alone on their first day out. Now I rethinking the whole outside thing. Are they working me? Or is the big world to scary for them. They were quite safe in the enclosed run. So now what

Lol. They think your mama. Where did you go all day? Just happy to see you. Wait till they do that full grown. Hahaha. So funny.

They'll get over it and be blowing you off soon enough. Try hanging out with them for a bit the next time you put them out there. Remember, they've never seen the sky like that if they've only been in the house until now. It's a big, scary world out there! Try putting some really good treats on the ground to keep their minds off it. That works with my girls after a hawk flyover. (Which happens with regularity, so you'd think they'd be used to it.)

You can post your want list on our show page. I have gotten buff orps there in the past, but you just never know what's going to show up. Welcome to chickens!

We are taking advantage of the beautiful day and started our run. We will work on improving the coop later. We are thinking of adding two external nesting boxes, this would free up a good amount of space inside the coop for the girls.

So excited! I found a lady who has a trio of BANTAM Turkens in my 4-H club and is breeding them! I've always wanted a Turk, but I thought bantam would be hard to find. Now that I know this, I have to get one!
