Love it! So pretty. I'm still waiting on something in the "other than brown" dept

Thank you! You have some olive layers don't you? I can't wait to see what your eggs look like! I am pretty happy with my egg color mix. I just noticed that each of my breeds lays a different color.
Silkie- pinkish
Orpington- brown
EE- green
Polish- when she lays, white
Other EE- don't know yet. I'm hoping for blue to complete the mix!

I have one olive egger, one BC Marans, one BW aneraucanas, two exchequer leghorns and two Easter egger's all NOT laying yet and should be any time now. The will add to the mix of brown layers and my other two EE which lay a cream/pinkish egg. :D

Almost all of my girls are on an egg break. I have thirty - of different ages, which means that many are past their laying prime - and I'm lucky if I get a dozen a week! Mostly it's the 6-month-old faverolles that are laying. For a primarily meat bird, they lay great! (Plus, they're gorgeous!)

Omg my husband is about ready to kill me. I had him help me with the babes is the basement. I needed to expand their brooder box. They were in half a Vari-kennel giant and now I put both halves together. Well he saw the dust down their and is not very happy. I don't even know how to begin to clean it either. I promised him in the spring they will go out in the small coop from day one. Other news my FBCM left me a little egg today. I immediately knew it was hers from the dark color. So nice but not as dark as I was expecting so we shall see. Here is a pic of the babes who will be six weeks on Monday.

Had a very nice visit today. But am so sad that my Marsie is not expected to make it :(
We decided to try and give her the best quality of life we can until its over. It wldnt be fair to get another hen that will inevitably be alone. So we will spoil her and love her for as long as she has. I get so attached so fast. :(

So flippin' cute!!!!! I read the post to scott who said he's on your husbands side. He still has nightmares about the dust in the garage! :( congrats on the egg though. That's great news! Was it a nice chocolate brown color?

Just when you come next week, keep in mind all my patio furniture, kids power wheels, outdoor toys and god knows what else is down there, and now it's all covered in dust. Not how we keep things but until they are out of there I don't see any point in pulling it all out and cleaning. My new coop won't be done for a few weeks :(

The egg was a nice Carmel brown with a few darker spots. Hopefully it will darken.

LilNugget- I'm so sorry. Just keep her happy that's all you can do. You've already done a lot for her she never would have had. How are the four new little ones doing.?

No worries NJchix! :)
Lilnugget- i went back in the thread but i missed something. Is marsie the one you rescued? What's wrong with her????

If I remember she was taking her to see Mame to determine age/breed. I think she confirmed she's a meaty, therefore, will not live long. Where she came from who knows, maybe an escapee of a livestock truck or neighbors yard.
