The light blue eggs are gorgeous!!!

So our new girls we got from njchix today are just the sweetest things ever! They followed us around (probably because they were scared) and actually like being held especially by my four year old. My other chickens would chase them occasionally while i left them out them to free range. Once i put them in their run, the occasional pecking started. It's so hard to watch. my BR is being the worst. I guess she's in charge. She actually blocked the entrance to the coop so the new ones couldn't get in. We just went and put them all in and closed the door and there was quite a scuffle inside. I read on some threads that this is all normal and that it can take 2-3 days. I actually teared up a bit walking back into the house.

This is normal right?

It will get better. I hate this part. The least was three days for me. Post some happy family pics when they are happy, lol.

Ok I want to know what Putty had Sunnychooks hatch for her. Olive eggers? I need two. I'm getting my ark reservation list ready, lol. I just sent my husband an email for an incubator for my birthday. :p he just looked at me. Thank god he know it makes me happy. Gotta love him for that.

My wheaten marans pullet laid her first egg this week - at about 28 weeks. Her second one was even a little darker. I'm getting a beautiful mix of eggs...blue, green, pink (silkies), and now chocolate...

I am hoping to have some olive eggers in a month or two. My wheaten marans girls will be bred to my blue wheaten ameraucana cockerel (from peachick eggs, so he should pass on some nice blue egg genes). I'll set up that breeding pen after I hatch out some pure wheaten marans chicks.

Also I am planning my wheaten marans rooster to my mossy green laying EE, her egg is the green one in the photo above.

I am not selling yet - but figured it couldn't hurt to post now, in case anyone is looking in the spring!

It makes for a pretty assortment right? Ooh yes. I'm in for the olive eggers, at least six chicks. Whenever you hatch them I'm ready. I'm hoping to get some marans and Bl. Wheaten Am chicks this spring from peachick, along with a few sebastopol geese. I'm still waiting to hear back from her. Ooh you got me excited now.

Great - you'll be first in line :) I'm really excited, this will be my first year hatching out my own chicks! I'll be in touch once I have some incubating :)
