New Jersey

One of my Ameraucana girls laid her first egg today. That's 11 out of 15 now. My Marans looks like she may be next. It's not as sky blue as I hoped but still beautiful.

I am from Brick. We are new to this but my husband did a lot of research (and when I realized he was serious, so did I ;) ) and he and our boys built a coop and a run in our backyard. We aren't allowed to have them be free range in our town, nor would we want them to be due to the hawks and cats so they are safely enclosed in chicken wire. That being said, when we are home, we occasionally let them out to roam our backyard a bit. Our dog was born on a farm and seems to have a natural herding instinct to get back into the coop ;).

welcome! I'm from brick too :)

I can't wait!!!! Oh and we have a name. The kids decided on Trixie for the new little girl. Is it ok to do the same deal as last time? When she's ready to go out side i'll come and get her? I would think it could be sooner this time around since it's not the dead of winter right?

Yes no problem. :)

njchix- our electric netting should arrive any day. We ordered about 250' so we're going to section off about 60 square feet of the yard as a free ranging area. I'll let you know when it gets here.
