I think watching my chickens dirt bathing is one of my favorite things to do. Today I caught all 5 in a group bath. I watched them for over half an hour and my cheeks actually hurt from smiling. It's the little things in life................. :)
I do love watching them dirt bathe also---A half hour goes by quickly when watching and enjoying the chickens. If I'm "missing" from inside the house my husband always knows where to find me.

So nice seeing all of them together.

I might have a few turkens in a few weeks (I ordered a pile of birds with a friend, but I am not sure how many I will keep). Also, I can make you EE/OliveEggers if you want. I have a blue wheaten roo over blue wheaten hen and a mixed brown layer flock. Should result in some colored egg layers in the F1 cross (I think, still new a the genetics of all this).

Hi jerseyhen! I think I've probably found some EEs that I will be getting at the Sussex show, but thank you so much for the offer! As for the turkens, I ended up having a better than expected hatch of turken mixes! I'm crossing my fingers for a girl, but we'll see!

I totally messed up the day my turken/showgirl eggs I got from Kahlua were due to hatch! Somehow I had it in my head that they were due today but I went down to the incubator on Friday to move them out of the turner and I heard peeping! Even though my humidity was low and they were turning that whole time, I had seven out of nine eggs hatch! No sticky chicks and all are beautifully weird looking! One even has six toes on each foot!

I let my birds out yesterday for a bit while I was outside (too many hawks to let them out unsupervised!) and they were so happy. Of course they acted as though I never give them food or water! Lol

Happy Easter Friends!
Thanks for all the information and support for this newbie and her flock.
We had my Son's Birthday Pictures taken last week and I wanted to share this shot with you.
He LOVES these Chicks, and call them his babies

I put out apples today and they and they acted the same way. I was like - "well, it's not like you didn't have a smorgasbord yesterday with the fridge clean-out!" They didn't seem to hear me. :p
