Shadow something must have been switched by accident (like by hitting multiple keys for too long). Try going to system preferences>international button. Make sure English is on top. Also go into language an text and check all those settings. Make sure US English is checked.

I clicked restore default settings... Did it work? The only thing I could think of that could be responsible for this is when I was trying to copy and paste a link here, and I kept clicking Control and Command at the same time because the paste directions were confusing me...

It's still there. Its the command button im sure. Your in us English not British English right? And did you go into the language and text > then input source tab on right. Make sure it's english in all document and English is checked only
