Just wondering if anybody here has ducks. I have been taking care of 3 baby ducks that were found in a sewer when they were about 2 or 3 days old. From what I've been told they are domestic ducks, as 1 is a Peking and the other 2 domestic mallards, I have had them for almost 3 weeks now. They are starting to get their pin feathers in. I am keeping them in an extra large dog crate in our spare room and then during the day I bring them outside for awhile and keep them in another extra large dog crate I also l put them in a kiddie pool as it has been hot here. They are eating chick starter from TSC . I was thinking that maybe I will keep them, but I'm not 100% sure. Do ducks make a lot of noise? Do they get along with chickens? If we did decide to keep them what age before they would need a duck house.

I don't have ducks, but I have talked to people who own ducks. The one thing that I have always heard from the experts is that ducks and chickens will not get along unless they are raised together (there was a point where I wanted to add a duck or two to my flock of chickens, but I was advised not to). As for the noise factor, every duck is different. I have talked to people with noisy ducks, and quiet ducks. They are also very messy!

Messy....yes very much so even at this young age......LOL!!!! But their cuteness makes up for the mess that they make. The mess factor really isn't much of a concern....what's one more thing to clean-up after-LOL! My biggest concern is the noise factor. I mean are they noisier than a chicken singing an egg laying song, or a chicken who's complaining about not having a certain nest box-LOL!!!

Lol. i don't know how noisy they are on a regular basis, but I do know when they feel like making some noise, they can certainly do so. Some of the ducks I have been around are more noisy than a chicken, IMO. Noise level depends on the breed. I'm pretty sure drakes are quieter than hens though. A duck owner could probably help you more than me though...
