Where are you keeping them now? How many chicks & where are you looking to order coop from? No handy people in this family either. good luck getting it done.
They are in a brooder in my hot tub room. I have 6 chicks right now, but after today I will have 8-10. The coop is from a supplier who gets the Amish to make them. I can't remember his name at the moment. We need a rabbit cage too, so he will give us $100 off if we order both a rabbit hutch and chicken coop. My dad needs to build a run though because free ranging became illegal in my town.

Sounds great. I will end up with 10 in August. I'm waiting for 3 birds to be old enough to be sexed as pullets. They won't be hatching till the end of the month, then I have to wait. :/ I rather wait then end up with more Roos. Already rehomed one and have another still. I will end up with a big mix of breeds when I'm done. It should be fun. Can't wait for my first egg.

Congrats! Are they baby chicks? They're like potato chips, can't stop after one. Lol. That GL polish is going to be pretty. I love that color.

The silkie is the age as mine, a little more than 2 weeks, and the Polish are a week younger than the others. I put them in the brooder and the original chicks act like they've been there forever!

I've done intros two times already and found (also read on byc) that give or take two weeks in age is about what you can be safe with when adding new birds. It should go ok, except for the usual pecking order which in both my cases took about 3 days. Hope they all settle in. Post some pics when you have a chance.

pics! I need pics! My husband is extremely handy and is in the process of building our coop. He works on it during the weekends. Only problem is that he is so precise and everything must be so perfect (yes- he totally has OCD's) that things tend to take forever! He's basically building a mini home. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled. I'm just the epitome of inpatient. I'd rather buy something if it meant I could have it today.

Congrats! What kinds?
oh, and
