Once hens start to lay eggs are they pretty consistent or do they skip a few days in between?

Oh ok, I guess I thought when they start they just keep on going - haha. I have two that are laying now, a Buff Orpington and a Barred Rock. So far three good eggs and one thin shelled egg in the past four days. Thanks all for your information on this!

All birds are different and the breeds also make some difference. Some will lay almost daily and some may skip a day or two, or several days when they first start laying. My Isa Browns barely skipped but my RIRs skipped more. Now I have some RIWs too. They haven't started laying but should start pretty soon. This is my first time at raising the RIWs so it will be interesting to see how they lay.
