Are these from two seperate layers? To my knowledge I only have one pullet laying, but some eggs are speckled and some aren't. Some of the shells appear lighter than the others. The one I know is laying has been for roughly 3 weeks. I'm aware the shells can be inconsistent with new layers, but I'm getting one egg a day, so I assume only one pullet is laying. I have another pullet the same age, so it's possible they're both laying an egg on alternating days. Thoughts?

Compare the shape of the eggs. Generally the shape remains the same, but the coloring can change. That being said it does look like two eggs are from a different bird just based on the speckles.

Time to set up the camera in the nest box again.

These two yolks are from the two lighter shelled eggs. I know a white dot means they're fertile, but not fertilized. I swear I see a white ring rather than a white dot, but it could just be wishful thinking. I don't plan to hatch eggs yet, but I'm trying to learn to spot the difference.

I have two hens that lay just like that but brown. One is speckled the other isn’t. One each a day though. So pretty. What breed laid those?

My two oldest pullets are from a batch of barnyard mix eggs I got off of Amazon. The larger speckled egg is from Pot 2025 05 24_Pot.png 2025 05 24_Pot.jpg
The clean lighter shelled egg is from Sweety

I just watched her lay and get bred today . . . she is my soul chicken :love . .a feisty little redhead that loves cuddles, but doesn't take crap from any of the other chickens . . . Even the RIRs, that easily outsize her, don't get in her way.
