I have 8 17-week old chickens. One has started laying just yesterday. This morning there was a splash of blood in the coop near the nest boxes, but no egg. Is this a normal occurrence for newly laying hens?
This afternoon another small, brown egg was in the nest box, no blood found on it or around it.
