So I went to TSC to buy some food and that was a mistake. It is still chick days. I am partial to Banties so that is where I headed. They were all gone. Wheee. Then like an idiot I look in the other brooders and what do I find, a little tiny chick in with the assorted reds and it is laying flat out, wedged between the feeder and the wall and being walked on. I thought it was dead. Crazy me, I picked it up and that did it. It is either a very small red or a bantie that was dropped back in the wrong bin. It can barely walk, and holds it wings out for balance. I took it to the water and it drank like crazy. TSC said I could have it. I am such a sucker. This is the 2nd one like this I have taken, the last one I paid for and it didn't make it more than a few hours

My other chicks right now are 3 weeks, and 2 weeks, and quite a bit bigger, but I have another broodie ready to hatch this weekend. So if chickie makes it until then I will give it to my EE to raise. Right now it is in a bird cage with a light over it and a stuffed animal. It crawled right under the stuffed toy and was finally quiet. Too cute. I hope she makes it, and that she is a she. I have no idea what she is, other than little and yellow.

She drinks water with sugar in it every time I show it to her, and she seemed a little interesetd in wet crumbles. She poops ok. No pasty butt. In the morning I will give her some egg.

Why or why do I always go for the underdog? I don't care if it is a chick, dog, cat, tame, wild, etc. I always try and fix them.

Wish me luck.

I do wish you luck - - - Please let us know if she makes it ! ! !

I am so glad you were there to try to save it.

I think the ones we save turn out to be the best ones.

Cheers to you for at least trying. I got a chick from TS last Sat. that had the vent completely backed-up. I even took it to the vet and she didn't have a ton of hope.

Right how, McDuff is running around with the other 11 chicks chasing after moths that find their way into their brooder, eating, drinking and pooping just like the other ones. McD seems to have to follow what the others are doing, but seems like a 100% improvement since last Sat, Sun and Mon.

Best wishes and keep us posted!

Good for you!! I actually just started a job at TSC. Yesterday was my 2nd day, and I brought home a chick that had his tail pecked. Poor guy was bloody, and the manager took him out and we put BluKote on him. She didn't know what to do with him, so of course I said I'd take him... Like I needed another one
