Hello! My husband and I have become the proud owners of 5 laying hens my father in law gave us. He said they are "Browns". They had a bit of adjustment to their new coop, didn't go in the first night. But we figured out with the rain their ramp was slippery so now they have a nice stone step and were in and out all day. The girls even gave us 5 eggs today. It's rained all day which they didn't seem to mind. But now it's sleeting and they decided to just go to bed.
I really enjoy this forum and have read a lot of posts and gotten lots of information so far. I edited to add a pic of the girls having some scraps, they really loved them.

Welcome to BYC!

Yes, it takes a while for new birds to get used to their new digs. But eventually they will warm up to you and forget their old home. If you have any questions, that is what we are here for.

Enjoy your new flock and it is great to have you aboard!

Welcome to BYC - good luck with your hens.

Hi HomespunHen! My, what a change in the weather from yesterday, eh? I've shoveled my porch twice already and it keeps coming down. Our hens were 5 for 5 today as well.
Congratulations, and welcome to BYC!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Nice hens, sounds like they are really laying well for you!

Welcome! I'm glad our SW part of Arkansas skipped (so far) the winter weather today; just cold and windy with a little rain.

Good luck with your hens!
