Just wanted to take a second and stop in to say hello. I am new to the whole chicken thing after my brother gave me his coop and hens.

Started out with 6 hens and 2 roosters but lost two hens to Hawks and got rid of the two roosters. My daughter wants to hatch eggs this spring so I'm in for a bit of a learning curve with it.

Looking forward to learning a few things from everyone here.

Welcome to BYC, and good luck with the flock expansion. Understand that any chicks hatched will be roughly 50% cockerels.

Hi and welcome to BYC - glad that you have joined us. There's lots of information in the learning centre, your state threads and the multitude of threads on topics that may interest you. Are you planning using a broody hen or incubator for your hatch?

All the best

Good luck with your upcoming hatching project.

Thanks for joining us!

I had a broody hen but the hawk got her unfortunately so I am going to get a incubator. Trying to get everything in order before I start. Need to get a brooder set up in the next week or two.
