i have 2 red sex-link and 2 australorps (spelling may not be right)...laying age that i just got from some friends, but they are not producing eggs as they should be...out of the 4 hens, i got a total of 4 eggs since 5 days of having them. I feed them layer feed and they have plenty of fresh water. The weather is below 10 degrees, infact today is below zero...they are sheltered in the barn with 15 hours of light (lights on due to short daylight hours). Am i missing anything to get them cranking out the eggs? Or is it just them adjusting to the new environment??

How old are they? Older hens will slow down and winter slows them down even more. And Welcome To BYC

Welcome to BYC. It is them adjusting to their new home. The initial eggs that you got were 'in process' when you got the birds. Given the supplemental lighting, they should start laying as soon as they feel at home.

Hope that helps. Give them time to adjust to their new environment, the days are slowly getting longer...unless age is a factor with your girls, they should start laying again soon.

Sourland is right. Chickens are easily stressed by changes. Moving to new coop is a major one. They may not begin to lay again until they feel secure.
