Hey there!

I'm brand new to keeping chickens. I have 10 chicks on their way to me, arriving tomorrow. My husband and I want to start out with them in the garage. We have dogs in the house and would rather not deal with the drama of keeping them out of an area. Our house doesn't really have a good place for a brooding area. The garage isn't insulated or heated.

Temperatures at night for the first few weeks of their life will be lows of around 30f. I got a Sweeter Heater and a Cozy Coop Heater. My husband has been fiddling around to see how warm it gets in the enclosure (cardboard walls). The temperature doesn't seem to go over 80f, and that's not at night when it's at its coldest. Do we need to set them up inside instead? I'm confident with all the other things I will need to do as a new chicken owner, but I'm terrified of them freezing out there. Am I overthinking this?

I am extremely grateful for the help!
