(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes and we got our chickens in the spring of 2020.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

(3) What breeds do you have?
Barred Rock and Australorp
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Having fresh eggs and we love to sit and watch them. They’re more like pets.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Gardening in the summer, Sewing/Crafting in the winter and RV camping
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We’re a family of 7. Three of the kids have moved out, but we still have 2 at home and they really enjoy the chickens. We’ve been married 30 years. I have a business I started in 1995 (paralegal) and also own an Etsy Shop for journals I make. We have a Golden Retriever and 3 cats. We started with 3 chickens and just lost one to Marek’s.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I heard about this group on MeWe, so I did a search and found the site.
We’re getting some new chicks, so I’m hoping I can turn here if I have questions. I hate to bother my chicken vet constantly. With losing one to Marek’s (had a necropsy done), I know what I’ll need to do on that end of things as far as the new chicks.
