Just introducing myself. Name is Fawn, and I'm located in SE Wisconsin. I have been reading, studying planning, building, setting up, organizing equipment and getting ready to begin having chickens for over a year!! I have some friends who have them, so I've been picking their brains, as well as learning as much as I possibly can before I start.

I look forward to continue learning from you all, and can't wait for the babies to arrive!

I used the new member intro template to tell you a little bit more about myself:

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am a newbie... my first ever flock of chicks are due to arrive next Week!!! (2/7-8/17)

    (2) How many chickens do you have right now?
    I will be getting 9

    (3) What breeds do you have?
    Silver Lace Wyandotte
    Buff Orphington
    Rhode Isle Red
    Black Sex link

    (4) How did you find out about
Surfing for info last year when I first started researching.

    (5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I camp and trail ride all over the country with my horse and dogs.
Photography, rodeo, camping, hiking, Barn Hunting with the dogs, dog agility, gardening...

    (6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have 3 herding dogs and a horse.
I work full time as a software programmer and part time I am a professional dog trainer and photographer. I have my dog training facility on my property and hold barn hunt events and training classes in dog sports and obedience.

Greetings from Kansas, Fawn, and [IMG]! Pleased you joined our community! It sounds like you have an exciting and well-rounded life. You were wise to do your homework first in order to prepare you for your foray into chickens. Glad BYC was there to assist you with that. Ask any questions you might have along the way! Those are some great breeds you have selected! Have you visited the WI thread in this link? case you wanted to chat with some fellow Wisconsin poultry people. Best wishes and thanks for joining BYC!

Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends [IMG]

Very nice to meet you Fawn. I have been a dog lover since birth. Loads of dog folks on BYC who just happen to raise poultry, or goats, or bunnies, or something else as well.

We have folks that train/show hunting breeds, agility, obedience, search & rescue, Confirmation, Livestock guaradian dogs, train puppies to be used as seeing eye dogs, aid the disabled and on and on.

Welcome to Backyard chickens. Hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.
